Both my husband Ryan and I come from travel-loving families, so it was no surprise that traveling would become our shared passion. After meeting in May of 2010, we traveled to Maui together only 6 weeks later. Our friends often joked that most people go out to dinner or see a movie on their second date, but we jetted off to Hawaii! We quickly realized that a love for travel would always be something that we would share.

Nine years, a wedding, and 21 countries later, we passed on the travel bug to our son, Colby. He was born on August 2, 2019 here in southern New Jersey. Boy, did our lives change in an instant! We focused on survival for the first weeks; navigating the Paris Metro was a piece of cake when compared to keeping a tiny human alive!

It’s almost like our life was now categorized into B.C., before Colby, and A.C., after Colby. B.C., everyone told us to ‘get it out of your system’, ‘you can’t travel once you have a baby’, even ‘your life is over when you have a kid’. We would politely laugh or nod, because what did we know? We were living the dream! Now I know that those people were wrong. I feel like our new life just started. Why would we stop traveling now that we have so many places to show Colby?
Once we settled in and slept for more than a few hours, the itch to travel and show Colby the world grew. So, he slept through his passport photo shoot at 6 weeks old, and we got to work. He flew for the first time at 2.5 months got his first passport stamp at 3 months old. We have learned A LOT along the way, and we evolve and learn with Colby on each trip.
